Construction is slated to begin in 2025 with completion expected in February 2028.
Texas A&M University’s Board of Regents approved a $250 million plan to build the Aplin Center, a new addition to its main campus that will blend experiential learning, hospitality, and student engagement.
The College Station project is set to break ground in 2025 on a 211,724-square-foot multipurpose facility for education, community gathering, and innovation, with substantial completion targeted for February 2028.
University officials describe the Aplin Center as a hub for experiential learning in hospitality, retail, and food and nutrition sciences and as a welcoming gateway for prospective students and visitors. Plans call for interactive labs, collaborative classrooms, and dedicated spaces for campus and community events.
A new Visitor Center will anchor the construction project with a 170-seat theater, 70-seat multipurpose room, ambassador support areas, and staff offices.

Through July 2025, construction starts in the Colleges and Universities category were reported down 3.4 percent. Chief Economist Michael Guckes, writing in the Construction Economy Snapshot, noted that the Institutional construction category to which it belongs had retreated 5.3 percent year-to-date.
With more than 200,000 square feet of multipurpose commercial space and a three-year build on the horizon, the project is anticipated to create potential opportunities for estimators, general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
The Texas A&M University System oversees 12 universities and eight state agencies, has a $7.3 billion budget, and spends $1.5 billion annually on research. The College Station campus is its largest and oldest.
