A new 7-story, 240-room Embassy Suites hotel is planned to break ground this fall as part of a broader convention center expansion at the Landers Center in Southaven, Mississippi. It will be the first full-service hotel in Desoto County, the Daily Memphian reported.

The hotel design features a grand lobby and atrium, a 5,000-square-foot ballroom, a bar and lounge, and a full-service restaurant.

The Greater Memphis, TN property’s guest amenities include a pool with cabanas, multiple lounge areas, a cabana bar, and a lazy river. The hotel will connect directly to a convention center that is planned for future construction.

Expanding to Meet Demand

The hotel project is the start of a larger construction plan for Landers Center. According to developers, Landers Center was initially built for high school graduations and has evolved into a venue for major events. It has a 10,000-seat arena, professional ice floor, 17,000-square-foot convention hall, 400-seat theater, and food services.

Yet for over two decades, demand has outpaced capacity, driving plans for a major expansion. Developers said the plan for Landers Center includes building additional convention and event space of around 100,000 square feet, new parking and green areas, and connecting existing structures to attract larger gatherings.

The project’s convention center architect, AERC, said on its website, “This isn’t just an upgrade—it’s a transformation. The new space will bring even more energy and versatility to a facility already known for hosting concerts, sports, and community events.”
